Alternative Relief.

Acupuncture has long been used to relieve muscle spasms, stimulate nerves, increase blood circulation and cause the release of hormones such as endorphins-one of the body's pain control chemicals with properties similar to morphine. Properly administered by our trained veterinarians, acupuncture is one of the safest forms of medical treatment and is virtually painless. If your pet is a candidate for acupuncture, one of our highly trained veterinary acupuncturists will perform an evaluation to determine the frequency and length of acupuncture treatments.

Depending on the size of the patient, acupuncture can be used to treat the following conditions:

For small animals:

  • Musculoskeletal problems, such as arthritis or vertebral disc pathology
  • Skin problems, such as lick granuloma
  • Respiratory problems, such as feline asthma
  • Gastrointestinal problems, such as diarrhea
  • Selected reproductive problems

For large animals:

  • Musculoskeletal problems, such as sore backs or downer cow syndrome
  • Nervous system problems, such as facial nerve paralysis
  • Skin problems, such as allergic dermatitis
  • Respiratory problems
  • Gastrointestinal problems, such as non-surgical colic
  • Selected reproductive disorders

Acupuncture can also be used to treat minor sports injuries and keep the muscles and tendons of athletic animals resistant to injury, including animals involved in racing, jumping or showing.

If your pet is a candidate for acupuncture, you can expect the finest care from veterinary acupuncturists.  Both Veterinary Cancer Group Tustin & Veterinary Care Group Los Angeles have their own Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist as a part of the team.  The veterinary acupuncturists are licensed Doctor of Veterinary Medicines and also accredited in acupuncture from the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society.
